The Book > Chapter 17
I reckon this could have been confusing so far, but you can purchase any item displayed by the Wheel of Art. And to clear things out, a purchase is just one of the outcomes, not the ultimate purpose of The Blue Neon. We fight first on the following fronts: restoring the value of slow looking and reclaiming our attention via art contemplation.
Acquiring a work follows a natural flow and is not a forced decision. The repetitive immersion creates a bond between you and any artworks, affirming the latter as a center part of your life. The benefits of such interaction persist over time and the act of buying appears then instinctive. The price tag doesn't matter, only the intensity with which you engage throughout the process is relevant.
I could delve into the effects on the brain, the neuronal connections, the creation of new paths, the mind-altering possibility, the heightened sense of consciousness etc. A feeling of completeness and of belonging. The choice isn't between becoming an art art collector or not, it's whether you consider artists as a fundamental pillars of your society. If that's the case, support them.
As for the intrinsic value of artworks, I advocate the necessity for them to retain their power and not being another instrument of democratisation. I recognise the need to make them more present, but turn my back on any person or platform that strives to push them into the consumer goods alley. To go further, I will spit on the grave of those using artworks for the unique purpose of tax evasion or for increasing the value of their portfolio; you don’t flip them for personal gain.
We faced a paradigm change and The Blue Neon birthed itself on the idea that both ends of the same spectrum – hyper elitism and hyper democratisation – has reached a dead end. There was no other option than to explore a different route.
What about the effect of your acquisition for this universe? You will make it richer; richer in quality of immersion and of artworks, you will help it enter the next level, check the roadmap for more details. As for me, I don’t seek fame, I am simply here and revel in the authenticity of your journey.
Do yourself a favour, acquire an artwork.
Yours Sincerely,
BLUE
