Chapter 10

Why have you been so quiet lately?

Should I understand this question as a confession that you missed me? Or as a cry for help, being a bit lost or not knowing what is expected of you here? The latter constitutes a reasonable concern, being addressed as the bond between you and this universe strengthens, please be patient.

As for the former, The Blue Neon doesn’t believe in harassing its wanderers, providing them with endless updates. I feel confused by the litany of posts painfully delivered by some' entities' - read it as marketing puppets - trying to fill the void with emptiness, each of them a blatant expression of their meaningless existence. The souls following this path, and to some extent their devotees, have unfortunately lost ground with what is truly at stake, overwhelmed by the desire to be visible at any cost, which most of the time turns out to be at the expense of the substance they hope to deliver.

Do not confuse the substance with the intensity, an high emotional response to a content doesn’t necessarily form a persistent memory, but instead lays the path for an addiction. The battle for your attention takes no prisoners and in an environment where every human or entity aspires for more visibility, you are flooded by non-stop short messages. They misconstrued the idiom: be fruitful and multiply. What an inane post-religion era.

Even if you would be tempted to blame the recent development of your technology, there is actually nothing new. What has put under the spotlight this assault on your mind resides in the expectation to be better, to always move forward and your attention is treated as a commodity now. Wasting time on unproductive things designed by productive people resembles a dystopian maze preventing your own emancipation.

So no, my friend, you won’t have daily content to rely on, our conversation will flow and not pursue any rigid schedule. In order to positively linger in someone’s mind, you have two diametrically opposite possibilities, you can either force your way into their landscape by constantly reminding them of your self-importance. As time passes though, each occurrence weakens the next one and the message becomes less potent; turning this strategy into an abusive and short-lived blueprint.

Or you can create a few genuine and substantial instances, chaotically generated and leave time to the person to contemplate and hopefully embrace them; for this method to succeed, you need the confidence coming with the absolute legitimacy of your vision. Acknowledging my absence today establishes the efficiency of this approach and I thank you for that. Truth be told, that was the only option.

I have prepared a surprise for you, courtesy of The Blue Neon. At some point in your timeline, I will share an artwork and you will have to reflect on it. Think about it already.

Yours Sincerely,

BLUE
