slow down, immerse & acquire art
Chapter 17 – Why would I purchase an artwork?
I reckon this could have appeared ambiguous or misconstrued until now, but you can indeed purchase any item the wheel of art presents. And to clear things out, this feature is an option, not the unique purpose of The Blue Neon, which revolves around your journey and the atmosphere of slowness and attention soaking in your bones.
The benefits from the whole process of acquiring an artwork are manifold, as you would have surely imagined I guess – otherwise why bothering you with this discussion? – and enduring. It doesn’t matter the price range, only the intensity in which you involve your mind is relevant, from merely accepting the possibility of an artwork as a source of elation, through contemplating the very steps required to shift into reality and going through them one at a time, to the actual feeling of euphoria attained by the completion of the operation.
I could delve with you into the effects on the brain, the neuronal connections, the creation of new paths, the mind-altering possibility, the heightened sense of consciousness etc etc. it’s an overall feeling of completeness and of belonging. Not to forget the appreciation dedicated towards the artists themselves and the consideration of art as a cement of society. The choice belongs to you solely whether you want to partake. This doesn’t constitute a binary process, sitting on the fence, pondering your life choices, deciding whether you should become an art collector or not, the reality is more subtle.
The same goes for the intrinsic value of artworks, while I advocate the necessity for them to remain in the realm of loftiness and not being another instrument of democratisation, I also recognise the need of acquiring them in a more consistent and natural manner than you assume. In fact, turn your back on any person or platform that strives to push them into the consumer goods alley. To that extent, I will spit on the grave of those using artworks for the unique purpose of tax evasion or for increasing the value of their portfolio, you don’t flip them for personal gain.
We face a paradigm change, or more accurately The Blue Neon birthed itself on the idea that both ends of the same spectrum – hyper elitism and hyper democratisation – coupled with speed via technology enhancement have reached a deadend, and that there was no other option but to explore an extra branch of this domain.
What about the effect of your acquisition for this universe? You will make it richer; richer in quality of immersion and of artworks, you will help it enter the next level, technology-wise obviously. As for me, I don’t seek fame, I am simply here and revel myself in the authenticity of your journey, one or multiple.
Do yourself a favour, indulge in the process, acquire an artwork.
Yours Sincerely,
BLUE
