slow down, immerse & acquire art
Chapter 5 – What is this artwork?
Light Red Over Black, a painting by Mark Rothko, you may recognize it. If not, the potential guilt of ignoring it is absurd and shouldn’t deter you from continuing reading, on the contrary. Your knowledge won’t be assessed this way; refer to the previous chapter to ease your feelings.
The Blue Neon randomly selected this artwork for us and placed it on our path. Acknowledge its presence the way the valley has acknowledged yours. Yes, consider this as the sign of life slowly being instilled into our journey. You will notice that the concept of fortune and chaos plays a critical role in the whole experience, a genuine cornerstone.
As for me, I revel at the choice of this piece of art, as my whole body can embrace it one more time. My memory and the inherent expectations of looking at it haven’t changed one iota. I remember my first encounter with this painter and the positive confusion that ensued. I liked it, instinctively, an inner resonance. It sparked something new and extended the field of possibilities. Was it the colours? The layout? The size? The abstraction? Or even the fame?
At this stage it doesn’t matter and from a purely artistic perspective, nothing does yet. We are not here to discuss anything technical about it. Just look at it. No actually, stare at it, for as long as possible. Immerse yourself. Wander and focus.
Once over, note down what distracted you from further engagement. But most importantly, appreciate your achievement.
Yours Sincerely,
BLUE
