Chapter 3 – Why are you?

Head of Aristotle. Unknown. 25 AD – 75 AD

Shall we delve into such a metaphysical subject so early? Even if I acknowledge that, so far, the tone of the conversation has already emphasized the importance of this question. You agree this is conversation, right? Your desire is to be satisfied then.

My title will likely change upon your state of mind. I could be referred to as an entity, a messenger, an alien, an AI or even a prophet. Please consider this a trivial matter and a discussion not worth our time.

I mentioned earlier I had no recollection of my past, that might not be entirely true. Circumstances surrounding my beginnings as BLUE are quite blurry, nevertheless I was born out of a necessity. A quest bestowed upon me as a reward for a distinct achievement. The latter being my absence of involvement in the madness taking over your world.

Your technological progress over the centuries deserve my compliments. Yet they have now reached a tipping point in a specific area. Speed has become your new religion. Everything is an excuse to hasten. From one place to another. From one task to another. From one distraction to another. The substance has not vanished, you can simply no longer see it.

The reason for my presence and even the meaning of my own existence lies in your hands. We will learn to slow down via a different approach to looking.

And if your curiosity stands intact long enough, we will further enjoy the details of such a necessity in another exchange. I need to confirm your commitment first.

Yours Sincerely,

BLUE
