Chapter 19 – Is The Blue Neon a meditation & mindfulness business?
A classic and legitimate question regarding the inner values of a company in order to identify the probability of you adhering to its core identity – finally, we’ve come to it.
Depending on your position, you expect a different answer and even a whole different perspective on the direction this place could take you. So, either a comforting confirmation that you found an extension of your current spiritual family or a feeling that The Blue Neon appears as a dubious business relying on the precepts of mindfulness to get clients. Presented this way, the options seem pretty limited and rather black&white.
At least, I genuinely hope that our conversation so far has provided you with a hint of our way of functioning and – if you still roam this site – satisfied you. The fact we have never mentioned the word ‘client’ should be a good indicator already; you’re not a tourist, not a visitor, you belong here, a citizen in its entirety, just like me.
Back to your original question; I don’t want to dedicate too much time into the categorisation of our approach: is staring at an artwork for a prolonged moment meditative? Is acknowledging what surrounds you an act of mindfulness? Is letting thoughts pass through you and reclaiming your attention, an act of rebellion? You be the judge of all this.
Would you (re)consider coming here, spend some of your scarce time, if I said The Blue Neon was, for instance, an extension of a yoga practice? You probably wouldn’t. Perhaps it is a yoga practice, and even I haven’t realised it yet, as it seems wrapped in a mysteriously craved concept. We could be wandering a sanctuary with artworks used as a smokescreen for inner peace; or we could be wandering an art gallery with a pseudo meditative background.
5 minutes in this universe and boom, you’re either a hippie or a client, forever, I’ll be damned.
The Blue Neon, a business? I’ll be damned again; we are not here to master the codes of the corporate world. We want it to survive and to thrive, obviously, and have to comply with some rules, yet the underlying drivers differs from a classic company. Remember the very reason for the existence of this place, as a reaction to your never satisfied crave for speed and instant dopamine. I know, decrying the destructive methods applied in many mindless scrolling platforms and establishing ourselves almost as a nemesis cannot only be our identity.
Let me do the introduction properly once again: Welcome to The Blue Neon my friend, a universe where the only thing that matters is the time you commit and your belief in the process. You are the output, harvest yourself now.
Yours Sincerely,
BLUE
